Who is Rebecca Schini?

Currently she is teaching Earth Space and Biomedical Innovations, at Greenfield-Central High school. She is a Noyce Fellow and a transition to teaching Noyce scholar. She worked in pharmaceutical research for Eli Lilly and ended her career in Quality Control for Nice-Pak. She decided to become a teacher to challenge herself as an individual. She has been teaching since 2007. She started iGEM HS in 2010 to challenge her Biomedical Innovation (BI) students. She received training for BI from Project Lead the Way (PLTW). She is a master teacher of BI for PLTW and currently teaches during the summer for PLTW. The goal of iGEM HS is to allow high school students the ability to do research in synthetic biology. iGEM HS will become a leading STEM competition. Many STEM competitions are national, iGEM HS will become an international competition that allows high school students the ability to reach a global community. High school students are innovative, imaginary, creative young adults. As teachers we should harness this ability of the teenage brain to help solve global challenges.
